Cute! What are they and where are they living?

Four baby bunnies and they are living in the middle of our yard. Yep, not under a bush or plant where they would be safer. I've had to pull Riley away from them countless times. She keeps getting into the nest and pulling them out. She hurt three of them with her teeth and I didn't think one was going to make it. But I checked on them last night after she had gotten into it again, because Josh let her out and forgot to watch her. The one I thought would die was doing very well. The other one's cut was healing and one was missing altogether. The fourth was found unharmed in the yard. I don't know if the missing one died of his earlier injuries and the mom removed him (of the three, I thought his tooth punctures were the least serious) or if Riley lost him. I don't think she ate him because she just pulls them out and then lays down with them between her front paws. I think she wants to play with them. Anyway, she is not my favorite person these days.
The doe has been very present and continually comes back to her poor babes. They'll be lucky to make it to adult rabbits I think!

I pray that yours fare better than ours have been! Prairie camp has been awesome, you guys should try to make out this weekend for some time. Call me if you want details!

How are your furry little friends doing????

A few days after I took this picture . . . and a few more times of putting one back in the nest, they moved out for good. I think the mama decided to move them to a safer place. The doe and buck are often in our yard, and Riley searches for her playmates in the flower beds. I think we'll see them venturing out to graze soon.
