Swiftly fly the days

Life marches. And runs swiftly. But never the slow creeping days I remember from childhood. I've been trying for months to get back to my blog. Such tender memories are stored here. I ache to get back to these pages, recording our days together.

There was some sort of malfunction with my site and I had absolutely no idea how to solve it, so that defeated me and kept me away longer. But today, I tried again and as I was giving my problem words to the great unknown Blogger Help Forum, suddenly my humble little blog appeared for longer than five seconds and I was actually able to start a new post. So Blogger Help Forum is SO helpful, you need only to begin to reach out to them I guess.

I have lots to think out here. Oodles to share. And maybe just maybe I'll get caught up from before. I have lots written, but just never published. And then, I just stopped altogether.

So today, I leave you with our view.

Mid-Summer skies in the midwest are always full and hanging happily over the farm fields. This year instead of the scorching August heat we've been blessed with mild temperatures. So much so, we can leave windows open at night to cool the house.
I love it.
It does make beaching and pooling a much chillier endeavor.

Orb Weaver, Not in My Garden

Orb Weaver

I know some of you may not be able to look at this and see beauty.

I've had this little thing, arachnophobia that I've been trying to get over.

She spins a ginormous web across my entire patio door every night and hunts across its stickiness. I can't use the door after 8:30 as I let her stay. But I let her stay so I can watch her and study her intricate beauty. In the morning she gathers her web and takes it all in so its not in my way.

And I can say that I love her.

A Garden Pose

More of my Tribe. And this is Father's Day. I'm so glad they're mine.

Happy Father's Day to the guy who is my partner in this bumpy, ridiculously fun ride called parenthood!

Balmy Christmas

If you've been reading long, you know how I love a white Christmas. Last year, though harsh was amazing and I loved it.

It seemed so promising when we had a beautiful white Thanksgiving this year.

This year we endured enjoyed a very balmy Christmas. The whole Advent really.

My parents surprised us with a professional photo shoot with our favorite photographer, Brittani Renee.

It was a truly wonderful day. Warmth of weather. Warmth of heart.

everyone together. all of my siblings, their spouses, children. my parents

Advice From a Singer Sewing Manual from 1949

"Prepare yourself mentally for sewing. Think about what you are going to do . . . Never approach sewing with a sigh or lackadaisically. Good results are difficult when indifference predominates.

Never try to sew with a sink full of dirty dishes or beds unmade. When there are urgent housekeeping chores, do these first so your mind is free to enjoy your sewing. When you sew, make yourself as attractive as possible. Put on a clean dress. Keep a little bag full of French chalk near your sewing machine to dust your fingers at intervals. Have your hair in order, powder and lipstick put on. If you are constantly fearful that a visitor will drop in or your husband will come home, and you will not look neatly put together, you will not enjoy your sewing."

This just makes me happy.

The Days Shorten

It's a home made kind of day.

That's chocolate syrup by the way. So yummy.

Oatmeal with raw milk and real maple syrup.

It's an affront at first, having to say goodbye to summer. I'm never ready for the long farewell.
But I do warm up to the crisp Autumn mornings and the delicious fare available in the months of frost.

I'm slowly accepting the intrusion of Fall.

But it's still summer for another week so let's not get crazy.
